The eight auspicious symbols represent the offerings made by the gods to Shakyamuni Buddha when he attained enlightenment.

The endless knot, or knot of eternity, symbolizes the Buddha's endless wisdom and compassion. It represents meditative awareness which is without beginning or end, and the underlying continuity of existence.
