Photograph of Mipham Rinpoche thangka. The central figure is the first Mipham Rinpoche, Jamyang Namgyal Gyatso, Tibetan Buddhist meditation master and scholar, 1846-1912. He was also known as Ju Mipham, for the area of Tibet from which his father came. Above Ju Mipham's head is Manjushri, the bodhisattva of wisdom, of whom Ju Mipham is the human embodiment. Below Ju Mipham, stage right, is the wrathful form of Manjushri , the yidam Yamantaka. Stage left is Gesar of Ling.
