Garden Kwan Yin with Leaves, Wat Pho, Bangkok, Thailand
Numerous formed concrete statues from China were added to Buddhist sites in Thailand at the turn of the century. This graceful figure reflects the emphasis on symmetry with nature often found in feminine statuary in Asian art. Harmony is considered a fundamental value and is expressed through Chan (Zen) Buddhist teachings that originated in China.
