Standing Luminous Buddhas #3, Wat Wisunalat, Luang Prabang, Laos
Wat Wisunalat, built in the early 1500’s, is the oldest temple still in use in Luang Prabang, the spiritual capital of Laos.
These statues were brought to the temple for safety from surrounding towns when Laos was bombed during the Vietnam War. The glowing Buddhas stand in front of a window as the early morning light strikes their gold paint and orange monastic robes.
